Summer Lovin'

Summer lovin’ isn’t always about a person. Sometimes it’s about a season where something finally clicks — where the thing you’ve been building quietly for years suddenly catches fire.

This summer, my love affair has been with social media and the readers who have found me there. The Maroon Candle set it ablaze. It was the birth of that story and its popularity that led to the comeback of my three previous books.

And since they were suddenly acting brand new again it felt right to give them a fresh look: a new sheen and presence they've quietly earned over the years.

Early covers felt like sketches of the author I was at the time. Earnest, experimental, still finding the visual language. These new versions feel like the author I am now: deliberate, polished, presenting the story with real presence. They speak the emotional dialect of the books: suspense, atmosphere, a little danger, a little ache.

And yes — people absolutely judge a book by its cover.

Not because they’re shallow, but because the cover is the first promise you make to a reader. When the promise is strong, they lean in. When it’s vague or mismatched, they drift.

Only eight states remain before The Maroon Candle lights up the entire country. Readers in 42 states have already carried the flame forward.

Watching this story travel from Tennessee to nearly every corner of the map has been one of the most surreal parts of the journey.

The fire is spreading and it’s burning beautifully.

I’m excited to see what the summer of lovin’ becomes in the fall. Momentum has a way of carrying its own magic forward.

Tik...Tok...Boom!

Issue 15 July 29, 2026 The smoke has cleared from the pre-release and the June 4th release day fires, but the candle is still burning bright. It has found new light in a room I thought had deteriorated, like Paulo Tower or the second-floor library in The Maroon Candle. And the light wasn't in the castle's ballroom or great chamber. It was on TikTok. Ready to claim defeat last year after my first three books seemed to lose luster on the platform, I tried my hand at it again for my latest...

Over the Moon and 2s

Issue 14 June 26, 2026 Two years spent writing and shaping the story. Two months spent promoting it. Two book launch events to send it into the world. And now the flame is burning. The Maroon Candle has been lit. That's a bunch of number 2s. Hmmm. Time to research. The number 2 in astrology indicates it is time for self-reflection—to pause, consider what you want from life, and carefully set your goals. 2 also means you may be under pressure from other people, but that you should trust your...

Launching in 3...2...1...

Issue 13 May 27, 2026 This month has been a blur of pre-book‑release madness. Event bookings. Press releases. Hardcover uploads. Audiobook narrators. All of it happening at once. To help get word out, I ambitiously, and foolishly, committed to posting every day on social media leading up to June 4th. Then, creating Amazon ads, messaging friends and followers, a two-day book signing in Knoxville, tweaking and editing little details in the book (an extra quotation mark appeared, " trying to...
